Notice of Public Hearing

Resolution of Intent to Close a Segment of 10th Street

Notice is hereby given that The Town of Emerald Isle Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing in the Town Board Meeting Room, 7500 Emerald Drive, Emerald Isle, NC on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 6:00 pm, or as close thereafter as possible.  The purpose of the hearing, pursuant to NCGS 160A-299, is to consider a request submitted by William Proctor and Charles Jordan to close a segment of 10th Street between Bogue Sound and Emerald Drive.  The public is hereby advised and may make comment at that time.  A full copy of the Resolution of Intent to Close a Segment of 10th Street as adopted by the Board of Commissioners on July 11, 2017 is provided below.

RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO CLOSE A SEGMENT OF 10TH STREET

WHEREAS, 
10th Street is a public street running in north-south direction between Bogue Sound and Ocean Drive, and

WHEREAS, a ~ 336 linear ft. segment of 10th Street between Bogue Sound and Emerald Drive provides access to 3 adjacent parcels and access to Bogue Sound, and

WHEREAS, the adjacent parcel owners are requesting the legal closure of this segment of 10th Street starting at the end of the 10th Street at Bogue Sound and running 185 linear feet south, and

WHEREAS, a 10 ft. wide public access easement will remain in place from the point of the legal closure to Bogue Sound, and

WHEREAS, the legal closure of this segment of 10th Street would appear to affect only the 3 adjacent parcels owned by those making the request,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Emerald Isle Board of Commissioners that
 
1. The Town hereby declares its intent to close an approximately 185 linear ft. segment of 10th Street between Bogue Sound and Emerald Drive, and hereby calls for a public hearing to be held Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 6pm regarding the possible closing.
 
2. This resolution shall be published once a week for 4 consecutive weeks, a copy sent by certified mail to all owners of property adjoining the street as shown of Carteret County Tax records, and a copy shall be posted prominently in at least two places along the  street.             
 
3. The Board of Commissioners will hear comments regarding the possible closing, and if the closing is not detrimental to the public interest and no property owners will be denied reasonable ingress and egress to their properties, the Board may adopt a resolution permanently closing this 185 linear ft. segment of 10th Street.  

Adopted this 11th day of July, 2017.

PUBLIC HEARING
Unified Development Ordinance Text Amendment


NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Town of Atlantic Beach Planning Board will conduct a public hearing during their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 6:00 pm in the Boardroom behind Town Hall at 125 W Fort Macon Road, Atlantic Beach, NC. The public is invited to attend and participate.

The purpose of the public hearing is to review, discuss and hear public comment, both oral and written, regarding the UDO Update Public Hearing Draft text amendment. This document reorganizes, clarifies, and improves the Unified Development Ordinance. The Planning Board will review the Public Hearing Draft of the UDO Update and make recommendations for the Town Council to receive at the public hearing during the August 28, 2017 Town Council meeting.

The Public Hearing Draft of the UDO will be available for public review at Town Hall and online at www.atlanticbeach-nc.com on July 25, 2017.
