On the 4th day of April, 2017, a Petition was filed in the office of the Clerk of Superior Court of Carteret County requesting issuance of a replacement Torrens Certificate for those lands described in that Certificate of Title Number 94-1 recorded in Deed Book RL5A, Page 282, Carteret County Registry in the name of Lewis Paul Bee and his wife, Betty J. Bee, as tenants by the entirety. Betty J. Bee is deceased and under the circumstance stated therein, Petitioner is praying for a new Certificate of Title to be issued solely in the name of Lewis Paul Bee, the Petitioner. The land referred to in said Certificate of Title is described as follows:

Lying and being in Straits Township, Carteret County, North Carolina, and lying on the east side of Ward's Creek, adjoining the Nina Lawrence division, and beginning at a point in the intersections of ditches, which point is marked by a concrete post, which point is the southeast corner of the lands of Stanley Gillikin as shown by his deed of record in Deed Book 218, Page 424, Carteret County Registry; this point is also in the western boundary of the lands of Elijah P. Gillikin, and runs thence S 31-15-53 W, 978.91 feet to a point, which is the corner of the lands of Respondent John R. Naples, being Lot 6, Section B of the Nina Lawrence division, map of record in Map Book 6, Page 84, Carteret County Registry, and running thence N 63-23-30 W, 736 feet with a ditch to the eastern margin of a dirt road, which dirt road connects with a certain road known as "Firetower Road", also known as NC State Road 1325, said road being 20 feet in width; thence with the eastern margin of said road, S 16-59-16 W, 100.07 feet to a point; thence continuing with the said road, S 17-39-55 W, 100 feet to a point in the eastern margin of said road; thence crossing said road, N 55-53-20 W, 20.85 feet to a point in the western margin of said road; thence continuing N 55-53-20 W, 1,096.91 feet to a point in the highwater mark of Ward's Creek; thence continuing with the highwater mark of Ward's Creek, N 1-51-25 W, 401.61 feet to a point; thence continuing with said creek, N 41-10 E, 495 feet to a point in the highwater mark of said creek, which point is also the corner of the lands of Stanley Gillikin; thence S 69-04-34 E, 975.65 feet to a point in the western margin of said road; thence S 69-04-34 E, 20.01 feet to a point in the eastern margin of said road; thence S 69-04-34 E, 972.41 feet to the point of beginning.

Estate: In fee simple.

Encumbrances: Ad valorem tax lien for Carteret County for 2017 and the easement of that road as above described.

TOWN OF NEWPORT

Public Hearing Notice

The Town of Newport will hold a Public Hearing on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at 6:00 PM, at the Town Hall. The Public Hearing will be for the “Wellhead Protection Plan”. All citizens are urged to attend. Persons with special needs should contact the Town Clerk at 252-223-4749 10 days prior to the Public Hearing.

Town of Newport, with assistance from the North Carolina Rural Water Association, is in the process of updating our Wellhead Protection Program. This is a voluntary program intended to assist us in protecting the system’s water supply from contamination, and to identify vulnerable areas around our wells called the “Wellhead Protection Areas”. Another goal of this program is to make residents and businesses aware that chemicals and other pollutants spilled or dumped in the vicinity of the “Wellhead Protection Areas” can be drawn into the well, possibly contaminating the system’s drinking water supply.

Town officials are seeking your input while updating this program. A draft copy of the revised Wellhead Protection Plan will be available for review and comment at the Town Hall, for a period of fifteen (15) days. You are invited to review the program, and submit any comments or suggestions to the Town of Newport. All written public comments will be reviewed by the Wellhead Protection Committee, and any suggestions or comments that may be beneficial will be incorporated into the program.
